www.ExercisesForShoulderPain.com

It publicizes the work of registered osteopath and chartered physiotherapist Tim Allardyce, DO, MCSP, SRP. The qualification list is a bit of a mouthful, but I’ve included it in full to emphasize the importance of only taking the advice of a qualified professional when seeking help for such problems.

I sent for Tim’s exercises and was very impressed with the information included. I asked for his views on a possible link between migraine and shoulder pain. Here’s what he had to say:

“I am seeing an increasing number of people coming in with a myriad of symptoms spreading from the shoulder to the neck to the head. You will no doubt have heard of the term “cervico-genic headache” or migraine, and this is simply translated as a neck (cervico) causing (genic – genesis – origin) headache/migraine. As soon as the neck goes into spasm, or becomes stiff, it has the influence to put pressure on the nerves and blood vessels around the back of the occiput (base of the skull) which can in turn lead to headaches and migraines. The problem is that when the shoulder becomes disrupted, the muscles around the neck get tight, and this influences the neck. Most of the muscles of the neck either attach to the shoulder blade, or attach around the shoulder. Hence shoulder pain and migraines can be quite closely linked.”

If you suffer from shoulder pain, head over to Tim’s site and you may just find the information you’re looking for.
